Just picked up my first Garand, an Orion 7 Select Grade. Went by their shop after work today and spent about an hour talking to Tony Pucci and looking over the goods. Some very nice stuff and a nice little shop. Tony was extremely nice and very helpful. After I decided on the gun he spent a good 25 minutes or so showing me how everything worked, how to disassemble and reassemble the gun, and answering any questions I had. A VERY pleasant experience.....I highly recommend dealing with Orion 7 for any Garand work or complete rifles. Now....if it would only warm up a bit so I can go shoot the darn thing.

Anyway, here are some pics....I think I'm in love. :D

Man that is a felony waiting to happen! Someone scratched out the serial number!!! :what: I would take that picture off the web as soon as possible. Like ten minutes ago already. :p

Nice looking rifle. Why didn't you go CMP? It might have not looked as good, but I bet it wouldn't have cost as much either. Well the good thing is since you have that nice gun you don't want to scratch, now you need to get a CMP gun so you can take it out and use it! :D

Congrats on your Garand.

What felony...thats just a REALLY low serial number. ;)

I thought about the CMP but decided that I wanted a really, really nice looking and shooting gun from the get go. It just seemed like the way to go for me rather than ordering a CMP and not knowing what will arrive. This way I got to pick the one I wanted, got a warranty, and I know it will shoot really well. Not too worried about scratches....all my guns are shooters. Thats what they were made for. True...it wasnt cheap by any means but....I got what I wanted from the start instead of upgrading, replacing, and having work done. Theres something to be said for that. :)

Orion is a great company to do business with and Tony is very courteous to everyone at his table during the shows. Whenever he is present at the shows up here in New England, I'll always stop by and get to chat and will find some bits and pieces to buy. This weekend, he'll be in Springfield, MA and I'll be poking around for a new, proper stock for my '43.

I also love the fact that they're on the East Coast.
