Are there any advantages to the P7 M8 over the P7 PSP model? I know it has a different magazine release.
Thanks,
Steve

Mag release, larger trigger guard, a heat shield and no tool striker disassembly.
The M8 is more of a "combat" gun (better suited to IDPA type shooting) since is loads quicker and has some heat shielding.
PSP is a better concealed gun. Trimmer, no risk of accidental mag release (later version).
Both great. Find a deal on either, buy it. Otherwise, hold out for the one you like the look of better.

What Handy said.
I've got a P7M8, and I am continually on the lookout for a great deal on a PSP... :)

spendy for sure......but they actually save you lots of $$$ as there is no longer a need for any other 9mm pistols
.............lots of P7 folks suffer from a 'need' for more P7s, which negates any future savings. I have been able to resist though!

Really both are quite nice and the fact is once you get one, you'll want the other. Get the one at the better deal 1st and then work on finding a good deal on the other.

The heat shield doesn't do anything really. You will be burned underneath the trigger guard if you shoot a lot of rounds in rapid succession.

Its been my experience that you need to fire close to 100 rounds before it gets hot. The whole heat thing is a way overblown, IMHO. If you need to go through two boxes of ammo in rapid succession, you can wear a shooting glove or get another P7 to shoot the next hundred rounds while the other cools off.

For training sessions, put tape of band-aids over the exposed areas. That will help immensely.

And don't forget, the best gun deserves the best home...

i have both and the PSP is definately the better CCW weapon with it's more lowprofile sights, trigger guard and mag releases.
the M8 is the better duty gun with it's ambi mag releases and larger trigger guard (i wear gloves a night during the winter).
the PSP is just slicker...you can take down the striker without the tool.

You don't need a tool for the M8 either...just opposable thumbs....or any of your fingers...

my bad, i wasn't clear in my posting...
the fact that you can take out the striker assembly without a tool is often refered to as a design advantage of the M8 over the PSP. i was trying to state that you can do the same with the PSP...just a different technique
