"Antique 12 gauge single barrel shotgun, in family 100 years, perf. cond. $1,000."
By the way, a recent gun show had a table full of single barrel 12 gauges for less than $100 each, with a substantial discount if you took three of them. Must be a real doozy!
Any takers??

Remander-
Mostly likely it is a rip off, but it just might be worth that and more.
There are many singling shots out there go for well over a grand in the wide world of trap guns.

There are quite a few out there that go 5 and 10 thousand dollars.

Depending on what it is, it may be worth way more. However, it is probably unlikely.

Alfermann Single shot trap guns go for $14K new.
I've shot a Parker A-1 Special that would go for more.
However, more likely this one is vastly overpriced.....

I guess a Lujtic wouldn't probably be a 100 years old....

I would think that if it were a seriously valuable gun the ad might mention the brand or model of the gun.
The lack of any such description indicates to me that it is likely someone who thinks it is worth a lot of $ just because it is old.

If one has the time, it is good to check it out. Many years ago, my grandfather got an amazing deal on 4 Parker Shotguns at a garage sale!! I have gotten some amazing deals on musical instruments when the seller is uninformed about what they have. It is often a fruitless search, but you can't win if you don't enter!

Remander is probably right. A lot of people think any old gun is worth a bunch of money.
And, Chuck, my dad once bought a pump shotgun from an estate sale for $100. He pulled it partially out of the case and thought "looks like a Rem. model 10, it's worth $100".
It was a Winchester 1897 Black Diamond Trap, in almost perfect condition.

If it was an Iver Johnson in a 24ga, 32ga or 14ga in which a few of these were made, It would be worth at least $1000.00 to a collector. The savage model 220A in the 28ga is worth 5-6 hundred dollars if it is in new condition.
Some of the old singles are very valuable.
