Am just curious, but does anyone use 44mag in a rifle for varmits?

If so, what ? a 44 revolver is probably in the cards soon for me, and if anyone is having success with them out to 150 yards maybe, i'd love to hear about it.

(no, not considering it for anything that i'd want to keep meat for. just eliminating crow/groundhog/etc)

I use a 94 Trapper in 44 mag for pest varmints--

Possum // Muskrat tearing up trees at the water line--
Ground hogs and an occasional squirrel--

Mostly to about 75 yards max though--
Most shot at 30-50 yards at the bigger critters--
Squirrels are usually real close--
Open sight you know--

My Win 44 Trapper seems incredibly accurate--
From a rest it stays within an inch at 50 yards or so--
Can't shoot further with open sights --(That means I can't--not you)--My eyes have seen better days---:D

IF YOU WANT ANY OF THE VARMINT LEFT YOU MIGHT TRY A SMALLER CALIBER. IF NOT, BLOW EM AWAY.

MOST VARMINT HUNTING IS DONE AT LONG RANGES BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THE BEAST, YOU MAY HAVE TROUBLE, DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU HUNT, HITTING THEM AT THE RANGES YOU NEED TO SHOOT AT, TO GET A SHOT AT THEM.

Well--Ya-- the 44 isn't a prarrie dog gun--
But for ground hogs-- Wetland varmints -- crows -- (though I don't shoot crows -- they clean up after my varmint shooting for me:D ) and other relatively big -- closer range critters -- the WW 94 in 44 is great:D

It would also be good for coyote -- if you're in an area that you can get within 75 yards or 'em--

.44 would be the bee's knees for bobcat or whitetail.

And I know plenty of people who carry a .44 pistol for deer and elk out here, so coyotes and such would be dandy.
