My dealer just got a used .38 Spl Model 640, price is in the mid -three's (forget exactly how much). It looks like a nice little pocket gun. Does anyone have one and have any comments? My biggest concern is confusing it with my .357 Magnum 640.

Ftwas me, and I had the 640 in .357, I think I'd look around for an airweight (442 or, better, 642) for shooting .38. I mean, it's all about pocket carry with these guns, and weight matters there. Tswhy I carry a 340. You could probably find an airweight for not much more than they're asking for this 640. And, if anyone tells you 15 oz is too light for 38 (even +p), you can rest assured that it's not going to hurt anyone who's shot .357 from a 640.

I've got a 640 .38 marked plus p plus. Great gun. Crappy pic looks like lotta scratches. Not so. Gun is 98%. Little heavy compared to my 42, but feels better when I shoot it.

I agree with ChristopherG. It's all about pocket carry and the 640 is a brick. Had one also 940 which is 9mm. They stay home while airweight/titanium get carried.

Kahr carrier...Grips are Ajax. I originally got them when I purchased S&W used model 60. Grips were on it. I traded the gun, and kept the grips for future use. I believe they're at least 10 years old. Eagle carries stag, and the last time I talked to them you could ask for amount of "graining?" (don't know correct term) you wanted.
In stag, I prefer "graining" that doesn't run to grip edge (more or less destroying grip outline ((hope you can understand what I an trying to say))). These particular J frame grips are to me asthetically pleasing and fit my hand well. Only other stags I have are on Colt Commander and they are almost smooth with a thin line of "grain".

I have been looking for an airweight or similar-sized pocket gun but have had no luck yet. Guns which you can legally purchase in the People's Commonwealth are getting fewer and farther between. When you see something good you have to get it THEN! This Model 640 kinda falls into that category.
I do have a S&W M60 and a Charter Arms Undercover which both fit the bill, but this 640 just looks so nice.

No offense, Frosty, just my pers pref. The 640 is good as it gets for an all steel piece.

No offense taken, I took your comment as your opinion on the subject which is what I was hoping for!
