I looked at a Smith 329 today that has a bad case of the uglies. Mechanically, it is perfect, having only been shot 6 times. But, it has been carried a bunch and the finish has been worn away and has been "touched up" with Magic Marker (Blech!). Just out of curiosity, what refinish options exist for this young cannon? Seems like NP3 would be a pretty good option. Thoughts?

On the assumption that the scandium frames are subject to similar issues as aluminum (which is what they are, mostly), I'd be cautious about third party refinishing. Many aluminum frames are surface hardened and this can be damaged by stripping the factory finish, probably even if it's only paint. For sure, there's a major risk of voiding S&W's truly excellent lifetime warranty by sending it to a third party for refinishing. I'd call S&W before I sent it anywhere other than the factory.

Yes , "scandium" frames are in fact an aluminum alloy with about 1/2 % scandium. The factory finish would be anodizing .Call S&W first.
