I just picked up my first Colt! She's a 1972 9mm 1911 :D

I'm curious about the flat on the slide @ the front sight.

Is this how it came from the factory? I checked my Kuhnhausen manual, but there isn't a detailed pic of the front sight (some pics look like it might have the flat, others don't).

Looks factory to me. Is it a Commander model? Mine had the same flat.

thanks for the replies (and subsequent sanity check)! She's a Government model. A tad rough around the edges - but I'm sure she'll clean up well ;)
