has anyone bought one of the sharps .45-70 rifles offered by CDNN? i got their magazine/catalog, and they had sharps repros for $499. if they're good quality, i'm gonna buy one, but all of the sharps repros that i've seen have been well over $800.

also, does anyone know who makes them? i thought that it would be uberti or perdersoli, but they're usually very expensive.

No, but I have one of the ones offered by Pedersoli. It is gorgeous as well as super accurate. IIRC, I bought mine through Cabela's.

yeah, i like the ones in cabela's, however, they're kinda out of my price range. if the ones from CDNN are of good quality and are accurate, i'm gonna buy one.

for the first time in a good long whiile i have to admit that there IS a type of gun i'm not willing to pay under about $850 for!!

if the price is less than that, it usually means that the gun came from Pedretti (NOT to be confused with Davide Pedersoli & sons), or someone even lower down on the chain.

i've been looking at Sharps repros for awhile now, and quite frankly if it don't say.. Pedersoli, Uberti, Taylor's & Co. (Armi-sport, receivers are milled from bar-stock instead of cast like the other italian guns, and less expensive to boot), Shiloh Sharps, or C. Sharps. i AIN'T gonna put MY Face next to it!!!

pedretti and some of the other have a reputation of being piss poor quality and some reports of failures that have or could have gone very badly.

it's better to save up than to buy a possible grenade.

but i DO suggest that you look into the Taylor's & Co line here (http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/armisport.html) they're probably the best deal i've found. and one of my local dealers swears by them. saying that they're better than Pedersoli at a lower price. (there is a gun that he orders from them that is basicly a BPCR starter gun with the decent tang and globe sights that sells for around $9-950, there is a pedersoli decked otu he same way for $1,000 at cabela's but it has a lower grade sight and still ahs a cast receiver) you might just find a gun there that fits your needs/wants and will probably be less than the same gun from any of the other good/safe makers

well that's my take on it good luck either way tou go.

How are the Shiloh Sharps rifles in quality? Are they Italian? Cast?

Thanks,
Steve

Shilo Sharps are made in Montanna and along with the C. Sharps are the top of the line sharps repilcas. But they are more expensive and do have a waiting period due to demand.
