How do you secure your truck gun?

I'd like to keep a rifle in my truck but I'm worried about theft. I have a standard cab Toyota 4x4 and you can see the entire contents of the truck by looking through the window. I'm also curious about those of you who keep your truck guns on gun racks, that'd be the preferred method for me so I didn't have to use up all my space behind my seats.

I have an older standard cab GMC, so I can put a rifle behind the seat and it is completely out of sight (there's lots of room back there).

I use the window rack too, but not usually in Billings. Out here in the country and in small towns I don't worry much about a visible rifle being bothered. You even see them in unlocked / windows down vehicles up here sometimes.

If you can see behind the seat from outside your pickup, I would just pile some stuff like extra coats, etc on top of the rifle.

Or maybe buy a bigger pickup .... :p

Think I'd get hassled if I kept my SAR1 on the gun rack? :D

Only in Portland...and maybe Beaverton, but cross the cascades and you are home free baby!

I just hang mine (M1 Carbine) down behind the back seat where it can't be seen. Problem is I can't get to it without pulling the seat back forward.

Have a 357 beside the seat and one in the glove box though, besides what I'm carrying.

I don't live in or park in high crime areas and who's going to break in a 85 Toyota, so my guns are in the truck 24/7.

That's part of my problem, all of Portland has a pretty high crime rate, especially North Portland, where I live. Maybe I'll just stick with my SIG.

round' here you might... because you didn't have a lever gun in 30-30 hanging under it... :p

what year yota? and what kinda seats?

i've installed enough subwoofers behind the seats of standard cab yotas a sar-1 is a breeze...

grab some wood, and some screws...

you could either mount it to the back wall or the floor, near the floor in both cases... build a square box across the bottom of the cab, like a case around the outside of the AK, to keep the seats and whatever else you might throw back there out of the way...

you could make it as simple as 4 boards and some bungee straps, or a covered bump out with a fiberglass inlay, mould it to the shape of the gun, cover it in black crushed velvet, add some tac-t-kal illumi-nate-tors, custom snap in retainers either welded to the receiver, or made into the stocks....

oh yeah..
