I've posted the picture here. Basically the slide hold open isn't working, and I've figured out why. I just need to know how to fix it...

The plunger in the end of the slide release just popped under the end of the spring. Push the plunger in and rotate the slide release up so the plunger bears against the end of the spring properly and you should be golden. Marcus

I *think* I understand what you're saying. My problem is that the pivot piece (#3) keeps moving just enough to allow that plunger to slip under it. I've pushed the plunger in and repositioned many times but it always returns to how it was.

Your sideplate isn't hooked on the bottom pin. The one that is 3/4" below where the red line #1 points to.

Hey thanks Joe, upon closer inspection I see what you're talking about.

Unfortunately I pulled the wrong pin and now the gun is about as stripped as it can get, with the exception of the trigger. Any idea how much a gunsmith would charge to put it back together? the only thing I really don't know about is those two little plates that were on both sides of the hammer.

Don't cha just hate when that happens!!!

As long no parts are damaged or lost, I'd think most gunsmiths would only charge $20 or less. Should only take about 2 minutes, if they are familiar with S&W autos.

Good Luck...

Yeah it sucks, lol. Is there anywhere online with a diagram or something so I can see how it's supposed to go back together? maybe I can do it myself...
