Another Rookie Scope/Rifle Question

I've got a DSA Carbine that's pretty close to as good as it gets. Just got a Kahles 6x42 that I'm planning on putting on a Tikka WTH. I'm just a paper puncher so might the FN/FAL be a better candidate for the scope? Please don't yell at me.

I have no experience with any of the items you've mentioned. In fact, I'm not sure I even know what you're talking about :)
I guess you'll have to go ahead and do it and report back.

AnklePocket, I'm planning to put a scope on my FAL soon, but since I've never owned or used a scope before I'm trying to do as much research as possible first.
Your FAL is so light and handy that fast target acquisition might be more important than long-distance precision. You'll probably want a lower magnification than 6x on the FAL -- maybe 4x, a low-power variable like the Leupold Vari-X III 1.75-6x32, or even a red-dot style sight. For a scope mount, the ARMS mount (from TAPCO and elsewhere) is supposed to be fairly light and streamlined, but it's more expensive than the DSA mount.

Congratulations! You have one of the best rifle scopes ever made!
The FAL is primarily a military rifle. I would put the scope on the bolt gun, and learn to shoot the FAL with the iron sights.
A second option would be to save your money for a Trijicon ACOG scope for the FAL, which is specifically designed for militaty applications and low light conditions. These ACOGs must be seen to be believed. They're phenomenal!
Good luck!

You should put an Elcan on that FAL. If you are interested I can e-mail you some more info.

Thanks for the input. Looks like it'll be iron sights on the FN/FAL and a bolt action for the scope. Still can't find the "right" bolt action unless you count the Dakota that I saw (until I saw the price). Looking for some nice natural wood in a smaller package and heavier barrel. A Savage 10FP with a nice wood stock would be perfect. I'll just keep saving until it appears.
