It's a great excuse to get a Dremel! ;) or you may wanna just consider a 640 w/ internal hammer :)

Gun parts Corporation sells spurless hammers for S&W guns.

My suggestion is to send the 66 to Smith&Wesson. They will furnish and install (properly). I think they charged me $42.00 to do that, and convert my Mod 65 to DAO. Looks good, works great.

since it's not warranty-related. For that outlay, he could get a top-end Dremel and Jerry Kuhnhausen's(sp?) book and still be ahead.:D

Besides it would be a fun project. I recently did a Hammer Bobb on a J frame and got quite a kick out of doing it. Skunk if you do a search there is a thread on how to bobb a J frame hammer. A lot of the guys had posted useful information on how to if you decide to do it yourself.:)
