Tapping the expansive knowlege of THR
Flashpoint

It's late so I'll make this quick.
I've been looking at compact .45s. I like the size of the P245 and I like Sigs, but looking through CDNN I have discoved thier lot of S&W 4516. So is the Sig really worth roughly twice the price? How do these two guns compare. Which would you get if someone twisted your arm and made you pick one. Other suggestions are welcome.

Sig is worth every penny.
Are Hyundai's worth the money when compared to Volvos, Acuras, Toyotas, Yugos (yes, I consider Yugos three times better than Hyundais)

Go with the S&W - highly under-appreciated guns. I've had a SIG, and I've had Smiths, and I still have Smiths...the SIG didn't do anything the Smiths don't do in any way. The SIG was perfectly reliable, accurate, and gave me no problems...same as the Smiths. I can't justify the price difference for guns that don't perform significantly differently..
And yes, I drive a Hyundai as well :) . I'm not overly impressed by names, just by what works.

P245
Beautifully made, reliable, and despite it is classified as subcompact it is almost as accurate as a target pistol.
The only subcompact I _really_ enjoyed to shoot.

I don't own any Sigs or S&W autos. With that said I have fired a lot of both.
I would pick the Sig over the S&W.

Sig. And I'm not knocking S&W autos. Had to carry one for many years. Kept many armorers busy but it did always go bang...eventually (bad DA trigger). Special Forces outfits can carry pretty much anything they want. They don't carry S&W. IF money was no object and I wanted something that I knew would save my bacon, I'd get a Sig. If money was a consideration and I was going to be punching holes in paper and cans, I might look at the Smiths although Smith autos don't fit my hand as well.

I am knocking Smith and Wesson autos, get the Sig. I've not seen or had my sigs bust, but the smiths have on several occasions. Get the Sig.

+1 Sig...they are precision tools and amazingly sweet shooters...you'll love it.
If you enjoy the P220, then you'll really appreciate the compact P245.

I don't own a Sig, so I didn't vote in the poll. I do, however, own a 4516. This is a solid pistol that has proven reliable and accurate. While others may have different experiences, the transition from DA to SA on my pistol was very easy to get used to and I need not change my grip or trigger finger position between the two. In fact, I hardly notice the difference any more.

For me the deciding factor is the trigger pull characteristic. Most S&W auto's seems to have a very deep trigger release/activation on the S/A mode. They do look nice though. I voted for the SIG also!

Not even close, Sig. Sig's reputation is solid. Smith autos are questionable.

I was different. :uhoh:
I voted for S&W based mainly on my limited, but positive experience with their autoloaders, plus my complete lack of experience with Sigs.
