OK, so I went to the website http://www.remington.com/firearms/shotguns/shotguns.htm
(oooh, betcha didn't have that one already)
and didn't see what the difference is. Cost? Looks? Any practical knowlege you can share? I'm looking for an all-around shooter, not something to impress Biff, Chad, et al with at The Club next weekend. Dare I say, even, an eventual "beater"? What would you choose in my shoes?
In the mean time, I'll be doing the "search old threads" thing; Thanks in advance.

I would pick the 1100 of the two choices you offer. I have one that runs really well. I had several 11-87's that never did run right. The 1100 is a better gun for sure if it is a vintage gun, I have no idea what the current production 1100 is like.

While the probs with the 11-87 are a bit exagerrated,IMO, the 1100 seems the better choice.

The Mag 1100s require a standard barrel to function well with 2 3/4" loads, but that's a minor beef.

Thanks for sharing.
We're trying to get as much info / practical knowlege as possible for when we return to the States soon, armed with learnin' like this it'll be a lot easier to avoid costly mistakes. Always a pleasure, Gentlemen.

Take the 1100 and have it threaded for different chokes.I have had both of them and the 1100 is a lot more dependable than the 11-87. I now have my 1100 cut down to 24",decelerator recoil pad, timmey trigger, colonial choke tubes. It shoots like a dream and is pure death on any bird within about 40 yards. I load my own so I can tailer make my shells. :p
