Well, I got my Spyderfly in last week and I thought that I would share some thought and some pic with everyone.

My experience with Balisongs is limited, so for what it's worth I'll give you my impressions.

Opens very smooth and quite. The quite mainly comes from the fact that the clasp is spring loaded and doesn't flop around. It was a little hard to open at first, being that you had to sqeeze it pretty hard to get the catch to pop open, but that is getting better. I could do without the holes at the end. The clip works great. I like the blade, the spear point is very nice. It has a very good edge on the blade, but the base of the blade could be formed to where is contoured a little better to ones thumb and index finger. Also the clip and catch can be moved to kind of customize the knife.

Overall, I like it. I have carried it some, it lays flat in my pocket, but don't plan to make a EDC.

OK, there's my two cents, so on with the pics...

I've been enamoured of the Balisong design since my brother "imported" one on his return from Air Force duty in the Philippines, back in the 60s. If Hollywood hadn't "fouled the water" by popularizing the design as a nasty old martial arts weapon that must never, ever be carried by "mere civilians," it'd be my EDC. Flat, light, extremely strong, and fast-opening (I'm a basic, "single-flip" sorta guy; I marvel at some of the flashy opening & manipulation routines, but see no practical use for them).

As things stand, legally, I content myself with another Spyderco; basic, conventional, lockback . . . Manix!! :D

I can legally carry one so I carry the Spyderfly or BM-42 every single day.
