Yet another "Versus"-thread

Hi guys,

my dept. is about to have a get-together with our counterpart on the other side of the border (in Poland).

Besides lots of good eating and drinking it will include a pistol competition at a local shooting range in Szczecin. There will be Glocks and HKs (probably USP series) available.

I've never shot any of them (I'm a SIG guy) therefore I can't comment on them. Any recommendations what to choose for a non-Glock, non-HK shooter? Is any of them particularly difficult to shoot in the beginning?

Regards,

Trooper

My 1st choice is the HK USP 45, then the USPc 45, the USP 9 & then the USPc 9 ;) Hope that helps.

I've owned both, but currently I have 4 HK USPs w/ a 5th on the way. To me, I just shoot them better.

I'd say go with the H&K. The grip angle and trigger are close to that of the SIG.
Glocks have a steeper grip angle. If you don't compensate, you will be shooting
very high. Also, the sights, especially the rear, is different.
When I have fired Glocks, I have done fine with them, but I had to take more time to do so.

I don't know about USP's, but Glocks are among the easiest shooters there are.

in july of 2002 I bought a Glock 17 3rd gen, and the first time I shot it was off-hand at 30 yards, and I was able to put all my shots in a target as big as a small dinner plate.

now, several months later I still shoot about as good as back than with my G17. so you can wether say there was not much evolution in my shooting skills OR, that G17 was one hell of a gun, from the beginning.

also: the G17 is a much simplier gun design as the USP, they don't come much simplier than a Glock.

The ergonomics and controls of your SIG are far more similar to the HK than the Glock. The HK will seem more natural to you, but the trigger will be a bit more yucky.
