Was thinking on getting one for the AR as a backup for my red dot. Don't know too much about them and have no idea how good they are. Any thoughtful hints would help in my decision.

Is this the Brit designed scope for the FAL we're talking about?

If it is, it's OK. It was great for it's time, but there are better options available now. If you can get a good price though, I don't know if you could find anything else with it's capabilities at that kind of price.
