Has anyone here handled or shot the Ruger 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk? If you have, what is your opinion of it? Thanks.

Ratz.
Another unfunded mandate. I have a 50th Anniversary Single Six to match my shooter Single Six, now I guess I have to buy another Blackhawk.

I am really interested in this one too. I especially like the all steel construction as opposed to the aluminum grip frames on the standard Blackhawk.

Don't believe they're shipping until sometime in Feb. There's been a few write-ups in gun rags and in the current shotgun news.

Thanks BlkHawk73.
I picked up the current issue of Shotgun News this morning, and will read the article on the 50th Anniversary Blackhawk tonight.
I'll probably pick one up as soon as they are available.

Not the Blackhawk, but the New Vaq's on the same frame. It gets a good review.
This month's SHOOTING TIMES magazine also had a good write-up on them by Sheriff Jim Wilson, too.
I'd like to try one out... :D

Have handled the New Vaqueros (in 45LC) at gun shows here, which are essentially the same gun without the square topstrap & sight:
Feel just like Colt SAAs in the hand, with a slightly different balance.
Hammer is easier to get my thumb onto that NM Blackhawks.
LOVE the indexing cylinder...where the holes line up with the loading gate...hope this feature makes it to the NM line...I like heavy .45 Colt handloads and the New Vaquero with the smaller frame and thinner cylinder walls is not setup to digest those meals.
Hope that helps.
