I'm not sure what to think of the following guns... is there some purpose to them other than being just plain fun? :) Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you, but it had me wondering.

1) Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 97S
2) Vector Arms Uzi AOW
3) Savage Striker
4) MRI BFR in .45-70
5) Smith & Wesson .500
6) FN Five-seveN

... and so on. Would one carry #4 or #5 if hiking in Alaska? Would one use #1 or #3 for hunting? #6 for rapid fire competition? #2 for... uh... um...

Or are they just for turning heads at the range and for perforating paper, large fruit, old household appliances, and bowling pins?

Aw, heck... I'll post a pic/link of #1 just 'cause. :D

For most people those guns are just toys. Then again, to some people ALL guns are just toys.

I certainly could see the utility of a S&W 500 in bear country.

Most of the others on the list would be considered toys by me. YMMV. ;)

Well #1 is obsolete since Olympic now makes a better one that doesn't have that buffer tube "tail". :neener:

My IMI Model B Uzi is a hell of a shooter. 9mm does have some punch at 100yds. And yes I do enjoy taking it to the range.

"Is that an Uzi"

"Why yes, yes it is"

For most of us, any firearm is more of a toy than anything else. Now I do have some handguns that have defensive applications, my S&W 640-1 being the one that protects me on a daily basis. But my 44 Magnums and most of my 357's and other handguns are just toys for me. Same goes for my rifles and shotguns. Yes, they could be used for defense, but weilding a 28 inch barreled shotgun or 24 inch barreled rifle in the confines of a house is not always the most effective means of protection.
