Has anyone found a source for new or like new barrels for the Ishapore .308 ?

The outside of mine looks nice but the tube is awful :barf:

Are you SURE? Mine had been cleaned to death from the muzzle which made it into a smoothbore near the end of the barrel. I cut off a couple inches and recrowned it and the bore now looks perfect.

Yep , nice big ol' holes where the rust was covering them . And then I had to go and buy this nice looking rifle AND want to shoot better than six or eight inch groups with it AND not have it foul horribly after just a few rounds . :uhoh:

I could try to lap it out , but methinks I would have to remove some serious metal to clean it up . I could load .311 slug in it then huh ?

Was hoping to find a way to shoot up some milsurp without fighting this thing . Makes a fella wish it was as simple as cut and crown .:banghead:

I sorta ''gave up'' on mine Jacks .. forget the purchase cost but was not excessive. Doesn't group too well at all .... and I even went to trouble of fittin a scope ..... mind you, I'd still as soon not be the target at 100 yds!

Barrel is ''black'' but rifling very well defined . and action tight too ..... guess it just don't seem worth the hassle and expense to upgrade it. Tend if anything to use this for ''playing'' with cast bullet loads ... as well as just likin the thing from historic ''looks'' point of view!

The cost of the rifle wasn't all that great . I just had high hopes for it ya know what I mean ? It's got good points , bolt action 308 , can load two strippers into it quick , doesn't draw a lot of attention , pretty good sights . There's a lot to like here .
Bore is ugly enough I don't think I wanna try cast . I can still sell it for more than I got into it I guess if a decent barrel doesn't turn up .:)
