Well
I just traded my BHP Mark III for a S&W 27-2 with a 6" barrel in the wooden presentation case with all the paperwork. The owner told me it was unfired but I have to take his word for it. It definitly looks like it. The only marks are a light ring around the cylinder. I found this while looking for a S&W Model 15.
What I don't know is if I should shoot it or auction/sell it and get me a couple of shooters!!!

Is there a high demand for these? How do they shoot? I have never owned anything that I haven't shot.

Shoot it. They're wonderful. There were also a lot of them made, so light use as a shooter shouldn't devalue them too much.

The above is assuming you are going to keep the gun until you're at least 70, as you should.

Mike,
If I could just keep one revolver, it would be my 27-2. It even makes me look like a shooter sometimes. A question, does your box have this same foam in the lid, or has mine been replaced? I also think you made a good trade and should definetly shoot it.

Mine is exactly the same except for the foam in the lid. My lid has the same blue felt covered plastic as the bottom but its flat. Under that molded flat piece is a thin flat foam piece not an egg crate one like yours.

If it hadn't been raining after work today I would have taken it out to shoot it. Looks like I'll have to wait until Friday afternoon.

wundudnee the top lining has been replaced in your first model presentation case.

It's getting extremely difficult to find any of these original 20+ year old presentation cases in good shape. The insides just didn't hold up.

Even ones I have inspected that have been sitting unsused have noticible deterioration.

I have seen kits to reline them for sale in Shotgun News.

Here's a pic of my 27-2. It is still unfired but I feel that its fate is sealed! Its supposed to be a nice day Saturday!!!!
