Hello,
I have a CCW in my state but need to take buisness trip to CA.
I have flown numerous times with firearms, but I need to know if it will be legal to keep a pistol in my hotel room in San Diego.
How about transporting it from and to the airport?
Thank you!

Keeping loaded and on your person in your residence/property: OK, just can't walk down the street with it.
Transport of a handgun: unloaded, and in a 'lockable' container that is not a glove compartment (yes glove compartment is specifically exempted in the law...) I suggest a samsonite or similar briefcase.
Note that CA defines 'loaded' as "Unexpended ammunition attached in any way to the firearm". So, loaded mags loose next to the gun in the lockable case are OK, but if you ruberband the mag to the gun it is 'loaded' and not OK...
Sadly, CA does not reconize any other CCW permits.

This should also be of great help. Note handguns are regulated more tightly than rifles/shotguns (which are nearly unregulated except for being 'unloaded' :)
