Just one more reason why I will never live/work in "The Rotten Apple".

Irregardless of other issues, that's just a dumb thing to say to a mugger, especially if the person saying it is unarmed. Yeah, go ahead, egg them on.

I'm sorry but I actually laughed when I read "what're ya gonna do? shoot us?"

Besides being a totally ignorant thing to say and proof positive that Darwin always wins it indicates to me that the young woman lead a very sheltered and protected life and thus was incapable of imagining that there really are evil people in the world who will shoot you.

That's a very typical attitude for the sheltered sheep of the world to have...

Come on now....if we didn't have gun control, all of the little 14 YO hoodlums would be carrying machine guns and mowing down society types :banghead:

Here's an Idea....lets make murder illegal....then having the gun will be meaningless......

I had this discussion in the office today. Bottom line is that there exists a whole layer of society that is very "civilized" and very isolated from the layer where life is cheap.

You have people with nothing invested and nothing to loose who will kill for a pair of sneakers on one hand and then on the other, these people who have so much invested in society by way of careers, assets and years being educated that it never occurs to them that someone would actually shoot them for their purse. They really have no idea that people like this exist nor do they realize that there are more of them than many would have us believe.

We need to address the first group by creating the society of ownership Bush talks about. Get them invested and civilized. Exterminate the criminals.

And somehow address the second group of soccer Mom's living on a hill in suburbia (or whitelandia as one local talk show host calls it) by making them see that not everyone is as civilized as they are.

And in the meantime, while they are being educated, they need to respect our 2nd amendment rights!

In point of fact, the murder victim had been raped in college according to a news article I saw yesterday. Victims of violent crime who fail to take action to protect themselves really don't have the excuse of ignorance.

It's not ignorance; they intellectually choose to see a different world than the one that is . . . . and want to impose that world on you.

Also people like this might view rape or any other crime that should be considered a violent crime that doesn't result in permanent "bodily harm" well . . . . non-violent.

Their philosophy is better to lay back than fight back . . . . which frankly, is repulsive.

Better to die fighting than lay back.

(You'd think we learned that on 9/11 . . . . )
