Sierra 500 round bulk packs?

I was wondering if any of you have experience with the 500 round bulk packs by Sierra (specifically the .22 50 grain BlitzKing).

I heard a rumor (I know...) that the bulk packs were blended bullets. Rather, created on several machines versus all 500 created on one machine. A dealer I know pushes the 100 round packs and matching lot numbers rather than the 500 packs. Personally, I think it's a money issue, but that's another story.

Would it really matter? I tend to think not, but it's still worth asking about.

Thanks

Ed

I can't imagine any advantage to the maker to put differnt lots in one container. Seems easier to fill up a box of 500 from one hopper instead of several. For a popular bullet like that it would be a run of millions, so why mix them up?

If they do come out of different machines, it doesn't seem to stop them from all going through the same hole on the target. You can sit there all day in front of your scale and not find a single one that is more than 0.1gr out.

Everybody I know that shoots Highpower buys them in the 500rd boxes.

It didn't make any sense to me either, but I just wanted to get a definitive answer.

Thanks.

I buy the 500 rounds bulk-pack of the 55 grain .22 BlitzKings. Excellent accuracy. IIRC the box has it's own lot # on it, I don't see why they would have mix-n-match in the 500 round boxes and not the 100 rounders.

They work real well on coyotes, provided you put the round in the boiler room. Tagged one in the hip and it didn't do anything but throw dust and hair in the air and coyote took off. Doesn't have the penetration and weight retention to crush bone. Before I got deployed I was working on getting some video footage I made of shooting water jugs with various rounds and the 55 grain BKs were pretty spectacular (from a .223). Only thing I recovered was a few shards of lead and jacket.
