they look different on each gun, maybe some sort of latex or rubber to keep moisture and stuff out of the barrel?

I saw the video clip on CNN, none of the women excercised safe trigger control. Every one of them kept finger on trigger of their pistols.

Don't think that they ever held a gun before this publicity stunt.
