I did it! Yesterday I got my first shotgun for my birthday. I got the Winchester 1300 Black Shadow 12 gauge. It was $179. I cant wait to shoot it. I was reading the instructions last night and it says I have to use WinChokes, well I had already bought a Carlson choke that says it works with Winchesters.

Does it have to be a WinChoke or is that just the company trying to buy more of their products? Will the Carlson work?

It should be a direct replacement IIRC. If it screws in fine, keep it.

There are several different profiles and thread patterns for choke tubes. If your gun is factory fitted with choke tubes and you bought an aftermarket tube which says it will fit that brand, you should be OK, as kudu said.
