Frangibles - thoughts?

I have little doubt this is something we have discussed before but being a lazy *** I am asking here now. Prompted actually by a thread running over on Rohrbaugh Forum (http://www.rohrbaughforum.com/YaBB.cgi?board=R9S;action=display;num=1104469206;start=0) on this very subject.
With the R9 we are limited to std pressure 9mm's and so have to watch what we feed it with. But in all cals - what is out there that folks like, or not?. I am a hardened traditionalist and stick to my ''conventional'' SD rounds, well, thus far.
RBCD .. 9mm ... VERY pricey. There's Magsafe too ....
Y'all??

For CCW purposes in the city and my Night Stand I go with MagSafe SWAT Loads.:)
For traveling or other I usually go with a good JHP. :)

Traditional rounds for me.
I don't even like the "green" frangible ( powdered metal) rds for target.
Add my criteria I have posted numerous times about firearm reliability ( including mags) with ammo...
Using the R9 for example , one can easily obtain and AFFORD to test say the WWB JHP for serious situations.

Even in the standard pressure loads, I would stick with a good quality JHP and save the $ for practice. According to Ammolab, Tactical Forum, etc. the standard JHP will penetrate and expand adequately in shorter barrels.

Hello.
I, too, havent ever been a huge fan of frangibles.
Like mentioned, I would just stick with classic JHP loads.
124 grain Golden Sabers expand very well from short barrels, so IMO that would be a good choice.
And although inexpensive, the WWB 115 grain JHP is an excellent expander, and I wouldnt mind using it for SD (although I would prefer the 147 grain load more).
Here is a link to a guys website who has done ammo testing in ballistic gel using a short barreled 9mm (Keltec). Not sure how this compares with your gun, but I would imagine it would be close.

Of all the standard pressure loads tested, the 124 grain Golden Saber and 135 grain Hydrashok look the best.
