Overall.....where do you shop?.....what will 250 bucks get you?
I'm looking for something that is thin in depth, not too wide or tall other words big enough for about 8 or so rifles

Is your object to keep young kids out? or the highschool kid who is breaking in because your gone?

Tomorrow im getting a Liberty safe/cabinet.I think its a little better then a sentry safe but i think the sentrys run around 300..Mine is going to cost 500.Im hiding it in my closet and bolting it to the floor and wall..Good luck with getting a cabinet.

Liberty makes nice gun safes, I have one downstairs.

Your price range absolutely precludes getting a safe, a real one, not a Liberty RSC. I'd get a cabinet that met my needs & then concentrate on stealth.

Hide it, disguise it, spend money there rather than spend another $100.00 that gets you nothing more than ineffective decals, or other useless 'bumph'.

You can't get effective fire protection at your price level, don't worry about it, & save for a good safe down the line. If you want to research a little, do a search on this site for RSC.

I think getting anything is better then nothing so what ever you get its better then what you have now..Some people can afford to spend over a thousand dollars for a safe some cant..I am hopefully getting my Liberty tomorrow if everything goes alrite.I was going to get it a few days ago but things didnt work out..Anything is better then nothing.Like CB900F suggested hide it if you can.

You may also want to call around to any local companies that sell safes and inquire if they sell used safes. The business I purchased my safe from have many used safes available in very good condition. They also have several safes they got from banks and other businesses that would accommadate rifles as well.

check out the Sentry gun safes they sell at Wal Mart. That's what I have. It's not a Ft. Knox or a Liberty, but it's better than a Stack-On cabinet. It even comes with lag screws so you can attach it to the floor.

Like they said- check with safe stores etc and also check at the range, gun club etc. many times people will want (or need) to get a bigger safe instead of just adding another.
just a thought.
