Nice shotgun, but somehow I expected you to be older.....

More seriously, I do urge you to get a clamp on the extension. Then, go shoot it plenty. Expertise comes with use, and the finest shotgun in the world is useless without expertise.....

wow! what magazine tube is that! Looked like an Over/Under at first glance! :D

Nice finger safety by the kid. Good looking shotgun. I'll 2nd Dave's suggestion and get yourself a magazine clamp...... or two??? :neener:

Ill definitly third the suggestion for the magazine clamp, how long of a extension is that thing anyway  Is that a 28 inch barrel with a tube going out all the way? Other than that, go forth and shoot it, and tell us all about it.

close quarters and mag extension on that gun is useless as you cannot do ANY hunting with it ANYWHERE......

I don't understand the purpose of that gun.

I also can't figure out why you'd do something like that to a shotgun, unless you are gonna be blasting a lot of rats at the junkyard or something. For hunting I'd pull off the extension and for self defense I'd get a shorter barrel and extension.

Loaded that sucker will be so front heavy you'll need to mount a tripod where the extension screws on just to hold it steady enough to get a shot off.

Anyway, it does look really really fun! Good luck with it, hope it works as you planned...

AEA and 357Wheelgunner... to answer your curiousity about the hyper-extended mag tube: BEATS ME! I bought the 870 looking like that.

But it looks cool doesn't it?

But it looks cool doesn't it?

Sometimes thats all that matters. I have thought about setting up something very much like that just for fun because not very many people have one. I think it looks awesome. (and TWO mag-clamps would make it look a bit more "industrial" and evil.) If you can find one the factory Remington clamp is actually pretty functional and nice looking. Brownells probably has them.

There's a few things on the downside from having a full length extension like this one.

First of course, is weight. These are nose heavy as heck. Especially when loaded.

Second, all repeating shotguns change their balance a bit as each shell is fired. With 10 or so on tap,it becomes quite obvious.

I've seen a few 10 shot extensions used well in Practical matches. Without exception, the operators were big and strong. Work up to a full load aboard by degrees.

Advantages, there's little muzzle rise with that much weight up front and kick is cut nicely also.

hey dave...you're absolutely right, it does have a little bit weight to it especially when its fully loaded...

...i will try too look for a shorter mag tube, but unfortunately (or fortunately), i'm stuck with that for now, since that's the mag that came with my purchase... but i will definitely get me a clamp or clamps.

Hey man, whether people see a need or not, if you like it that is all that matters! If practicality were the benchmark for everything I buy, a ton of my possessions would be very different than what I have now, if I had them at all. ;)

Enjoy your new shotty! :)

Looks reasonable to me. I've got one kind of like that, but a few inches longer myself. :) (12 shot)

Not practical? Jeez folks, come on. The room I'm sitting in as I type this has five shotguns in it. How practical is that?

thanks for all the great suggestions and comments... i will keep it at heart... i can't wait to more stuff with it...

i'm getting ready to order an 18" barrel, 5 round mag tube and currently bidding on a synthetic stock... i'm going to turn it into a MARINE (but in Blue Finish)... i guess thats the cool thing about 870s, i could go back and forth (depending on the need) from an 18" to my current 28"...

...awesome, i'll post new picture when my conversion is done...
