I was wondering what people thought about this ammuniton. I have shot a couple of boxes through my M17 and have been quite impressed! First off, Price is cheap at $3 a box and velocity is in the 3050 fps range and VERY consistant. Accuracy seems OK at 2 MOA, and haven't had a FTF or malfunction of any sort. Good penetration, blasted through 1/4" of steel like SS109 but better expansion. To me, it seems like a very good all around load. What do you think?

how do you know on velocity? You tested it?
If it shoots over 3000 FPS confirmed, I'm interested! How long is an M17 barrel again? 18.5 inches?

me and a buddy of mine have used it to take deer with wonderful results... large wound channels and complete penetration everytime...
all shots were in the front shoulder and in the neck...

Putting my two cents in, I have to say, the Barnaul Silver Bear cartridges aren't half bad.
I still can't bring myself to shoot them through an AR15 rifle but they are shooting very well in a beater 788 Remington bolt rifle I own.
I have had very good results with the 55 grain bullet ammunition, on par with what you are realizing with the 62 grain stuff.
Some of my customers ignore my advice and shoot Barnaul cartridges in AR rifles and laugh at me because I won't.
They tell me it shoots accurate, doesn't stick in the chamber, and is cheap to shoot on top.
We all agree it is dirtier than most American commercial stuff but who cares, we all clean our rifles everytime we use them anyway.

Man, that is good news to me. I have suspected it to be suitable for deer hunting but I haven't tried it. I'm gonna have to stock up on some and test it a little bit more.

Yes, I have a chronograph and those readings were very consistant.
If it shoots over 3000 FPS confirmed, I'm interested! How long is an M17 barrel again? 18.5 inches? The M17 has a 21.5" barrel that is much needed to get that extra "umph" out of the .223 cartridge. Your not gonna get those kind of velocites out of some short barreled carbine. But, the Barnaul is still a little hotter than most factory ammo. I have seen Barnaul 55g FMJ get well into 3200 fps on a warm day.

It is great ammo. I have put a lot of it through my Bushmaster. 100% reliable.
