Yep... I've trained with Jerry and his wife Kay, and been on the range when they practice. If you're up at Clark Custom Guns, on their range, and the bay next to you sounds like it's full-auto, that's probably Jerry practising! :D

Peter - how much is his revo ''tricked out'' .... I mean, I'd assume it was fully smoothed etc, etc ... but heck, D/A like that is awesome - no it's more than awesome!!!! I'd assume too his chambers are well chamfered to aid speedloads. Can't see gun very clear in the vid, even still frame but - looks like full underlug - or even extra weight?

I kept trying to see his trigger finger moving but - all was too fast. I am amazed. Glad to have this clip because had been looking not long ago.

Man he's fast!!! It looks like he drops his gun before the smoke clears the barrel on the "8 shots in one target" part. :what:

What gun/caliber is he useing?

Just like "the fighting bandana". Some training needed.

Ultimate Revolver (DVD)
Miculek Trigger Job (DVD)
Plus a few other with bits and pieces of his work

Jerry says he feels when he is doing things right he does 6 shots in about 1.6 sec, he can adjust his rate of fire accurately at will (proven by timer) , 6 in 2.5 , 6 in 2.0 , 6 in 1.6 , that in itself I find more amazing than just the speed of the shooting.

Trigger is right around 7lbs double action , suitable only for competition , most likely with Federal primed reloads.

Also he uses a very high hold on a revolver, very close to hammer bite in the web don't ask, requires a well radiused trigger to prevent raising a blister in just a few dozen strokes don't ask again ~as you are working the trigger with your finger at a very weird angle , but it is faster with some practice. I've done some practice with his style , but i'm nowhere near ready to show it to anyone yet. :(

Brownells (www.brownells.com) offer a "Miculek Spring Kit" which along with the usual polishing (but only in the right places) results in an ultra-light double action trigger pull. Be aware however that it is recommended for use in competition or range guns only, and should never be installed in any revolver that might be used as a weapon.

I tried one, and it do, do its thing. However because the revolver in question might have been used as a weapon I later removed the springs. If one wants to see the smoothest/lightest double action possible, match one of these spring kits with an older S&W revolver that has the pre-war/early post-war "long action."

Da' Fuff knows ... :D

impressive stuff....one day, one day!!

Actually, some of the better IPSC revolver shooters use a fairly stiff trigger pull because they don't go chopping a bunch of coils off of the trigger return spring. The trigger return needs to be pretty robust. They also don't flirt with impending disaster in the form of ignition problems by trying to take the main spring pressure down way too far.

If you want to check out a bottom feeder split monster wander over to Steve Anderson's Web Site (http://www.andersonshooting.com/videos.htm) and check it out. His "Bill Drill" on three targets, draw then shoot two on each of three, in 1.39 seconds is pretty impressive.

Wow, thats nice...I wonder how much the stamp on his trigger finger costs?

Also, anyone think he could be similarly as fast if he had a tricked out auto? Or is the movelment of the slide going to slow him down.

Hrm...how many rounds per minute is that? Lets see (60s / 1.6)=37.5 x 6= 225 .

I guess the slide isn't going to slow him down if a glock18 is like 1200 rpm.

8 rounds in one second is a cyclic rate of 480. A Thompson subgun is around 400.

Yowza.

GRD, is that the numbers stated in the video? I watched it in a computer lab and did not have volume, I was going off of caseydog's post. 480 rpm is really freakin' impressive, I pitty the fool that tries to play that guy in some video games :)

I know the debate rages on about the revolver being mechanical and times are not limited to the cyclic rate of the action. However, there probably isn't a person alive who can take advantage of that fact. FWIW, I know guys who routinely shoot sub teen splits on Bill Drills and the like. I have shot .08 splits on occasion with a 1911. I don't know anyone capable of doing that with a wheelgun.

Ummmm, a Bill Drill is on a single target, isn't it? What you described sounds more like half of an El Prez. Still pretty good shooting, though.

I have to admit that to me it looks plainly incredible, and if you guys here were not saying that it is for real, and wouldn't believe it. I couldn't even see his finger move! And the reloading was even more impressive.

(You guys sure that the video wasn't sped up 2X or 3X?)

The revolver, with no recoil and 8-shots, is a .22 correct?

Well, this sure raises the bar waaaaayy up there for anyone to consider themselves 'pretty fast'. (Now I feel that I am as slow as if I were muzzle-loading every shot!)

requires a well radiused trigger to prevent raising a blisterSeems like I remember hearing/reading that he prefers a serrated trigger. Also, from everything I've read/heard, the revolver isn't particularly special. Hadn't heard that the trigger is unusually light in DA.

Check out my post at http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=124710.

Jerry does use a serrated trigger in competition, though I don't know whether he used one here as it is supposed to be a stock PC 627 V-Comp that comes with a smooth trigger.

If you check out his videos, Jerry says no matter how fast he goes the gun is still waiting for him. He likes the S&W quick trigger return.

Nando Aqui, the eight shots are fires from an 8 shot Model 627 N-frame .357 Magnum firing .38 Special ammo.

The shoot six, reload, shoot six more is a 6 shot Model 625 N-frame firing .45 ACP in full moon clips.

No the video isn't sped up.
He really shoots this fast.
This is why he's in the Guiness World Book of Records. Several times.

He's been doing this quite awhile and is very well known.

BluesBear,

As I said, if it had not been for you guys taking it serioulsy, I would have just dismissed the whole thing.

Hey, thanks for the information on the revolvers. :)

I had read about the 8-round .357 years ago, but IIRC, at the time it seemed to be a one-of-a-kind experimental project - forgot all about it. (Now I want one. )

Thanks!!!

Recently Shooting USA had a segment on Jerry. I forget the exact situation, but I believe it was to empty 10 consecutive revolvers on their respective targets in 20 seconds. Anyone have more accurate information?

I can tell you that Jerry took a physical beating on this trick. He was noticibly slowing by the last three revolvers. Wonder why.

On 08 Feb, m14nut posted a link to the nice Jerry Miculek video clip that started this thread. Unfortunately the link no longer works.

I was able to save the clip and can play it at home, and I wondered if it would be possible, and legal, for me to post it for others to see it, as here at THR.
