1. Make sure its unloaded.

2. Check again. Chamber too!

3. Remove the barrel/magazine nut on the end of the magazine tube. On some Franchis you may have to pull back on the barrel in order to get the nut loose.

4. Remove the small metal plug in the end of the tube if it has one. It will probably need to be squeezed together with some needlenose in the small holes. It will come out with the spring with some force. Don't have your head over it.

5. Remove the plug from the spring and reasemble the spring and small metal plug and the barrel nut.

You can call Franchi for an owners manual.

Flatfender, that worked. The cap in the magazine came out with a little persuasion, but couldn't get the plug itself out. I crimped some empty hulls and started loading the empties in the tube. After the third one, the plug and spring popped out. Started unloading the empties out the bottom. Not gonna tell you about the part where the bolt slammed shut on my finger and drove the extractor through it cause I don't won't everyone to know what a dumbass I can be. Blood sure can squirt! Wife sure can freak! Anyways, the plug turned out to be marked for a 20 gauge! No wonder it was tight! Anyways, I got it. Thanks for your help.

I've had a "Garand thumb" but never a "Franchi finger" . :D

Glad you figured it out.
