Hey guys I just picked one of these up for $100 to plink with. I wanted a good .22 to shoot cheap and I've heard these are really good guns for the money. Is this true? Any feedback on these guns would be great. Thanks

I've heard that they are the best of the lot when it comes to pot metal guns. Just don't leave it anywhere near the stove!! It will melt!!! ;)

I own two of them. Very reliable, too many safeties for real ease of use, but as a training gun for deep concealment practice, they're excellent.

I have had one for a couple of years after buying it from a coworker. Had to send it to the factory cause the magazine catch broke after a year They fixed it and the rear sights very quickly and sent me a new mag. Great little plinker and suprisingly accurate. Seems to get picky about ammo if it gets dirty so I keep it clean and lubed. Polishing the feed ramp helped.

Some people love em, some hate em.

I bought one about a year ago for the same reasons you stated. I haven't been too impressed. The slide tends to stick back sometimes between shots instead of feeding the next round properly. This usually happens when I first fire the gun, then goes away as I keep shooting (as it warms up?). I think a slightly stiffer spring would help, but I haven't been able to test that hypothesis. All in all, it's a decent gun to shoot a lot without spending a lot.

An excellent trigger and very accurate with long barrel. Mine jams once in awhile, but I use it only for target shooting. I removed the mag safety, which is very inconvenient. A lot of fun for $100-150 (with spare barrel and extra mag). Won't last forever, but fun while it lasts.

I think these guns are a good value for a .22 plinker.
I bought one that I thought was new, only to learn that it was worn out.
(Wasn't using my head that day. )
Turned out the dealer had given an address and phone number that were not good anymore.

Calld Phoenix, and told them it was a used gun.
They said "Send it in".
The gun they sent back was new, except for the frame.
And, they sent an extra mag.

If we feed it only CCI Minimags, it doesn't jam.
It doesn't seem to like the cheap ammo.
The safeties are a pain, but it is a lot of fun to shoot.

my mom bought me one when i was 15, and back then they cost $78

i put about 7500 rounds through it before the magazine catch completely wore out (i practiced reloads a lot more often than i should) and at around 10,000 rounds the slide snapped.

my first suggestion is to take the left grip panel off and put a small piece of toothpick under the magazine disconnect

they're a great gun if you dont abuse them

dont dry fire it, i broke 2 firing pins doing so, and it dinged the chamber to where it wouldnt reliably feed

oh, and the firing pin safety would randomly drop, so i put a piece of rubber band under it

I've owned a couple. My first one had a couple failures, nothing unexpected, I was trying out a bunch of different ammos. I put probably 2,000 rounds through it, plus or minus. It's hard to keep track with a semi-auto rimfire. ;)

My current one only has about 400 rounds through it but has gone without a hitch. I've used mostly Federal Lightning but have also used 38 Gr Federal copper HPs when shooting moving targets.

I also have a friend that has many guns and carries an HP22 as a backup gun. Says it's only failed maybe twice and knowing him, he probably puts 500 rounds a month through it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I think the HP22 is a quality piece for the price. The stainless gun seems to be more solid than the blued version. My first one was stainless which I gave to my mother. I was in a hurry to get my newer one so was stuck with the blue. The metal in the blued version seems softer, maybe it's just the finish.
