I know that Star sold a lot of guns to various Police Depts. I have heard of Indian police Stars, German police, ext. It would not surprise me to find that Mexico had them as well. Great guns.

Nice looking weapon.
I'm not at all surprised that Mexican police would be armed with Stars.
Stars are of reasonable quality, and worked pretty hard at marketing thier goods.
Many countries with restrictive weapons laws have very little in the way of home grown weapon industries. Mexico in particular seems to have had a hard time getting weapons developed and on the market. It is also why we in teh US can not seem to develop a decent machine gun.

What I used to carry down in the land of Mananna. These are great guns! The work fine with .38 Auto but they are 9mm largo. I fired thousands of .38 supers in mine (Aquila brand) but the experts say you shouldn't. In an emergrency 9mm Luger or Steyr seems to work ok! But you shouldn't! I bought federal Ordinance stainless barrels for mine and put in new springs. These guns were made from early 50's to later 70's. You number can be traced, I think it is 1970. I like these guns, and while mine is retired, it did it's job and I trusted it! The markings on yours puts it in the $400 category IMHO

Gordon,
You are correct. Year of proof is 1970. Marked under left grip panel. I didn't realize that the markings would add that much to the value. Thank you for your input.
