Always wanted one of these but something always comes up! My next purchase will be a SAA though. I looked at a US Firearms,4-3/4 one today. Liked it:) They also had a Uberti, nice finish on that one too. I cant afford a Colt :( Never happen anytime soon. Are these good alternitives? Thanks.

I think I have a love/hate relationship with the old thumbuster. There are al lot of reproductions out there at all kinds of prices. What dollar range will your budget stand?

Last but not least, if everything is too expensive consider one of the cap & ball clones. Dirty yes, but the shootings a ball.

A ruger blackhawk, you can also shoot powerfull loads in them with no worries, they are very accurate, and you can get a good single action pull with some small adjustments you can do yourself. And you can carry them with all the chambers loaded.
I've also seen some beautifu Vaqueros with engraving and everything for under $500.

Hello, IMO it's quite a stretch to compare the pot metal oversized Ruger to a SAA P Model in any of the "clones"now available.
Cimarron makes one of the least expensive decent Colt SAA copies (actually they import them from Italy where two different companies make copies of famous American guns) and offer them in stainless this year!

Got four of them, all in .45 LC. Love 'em for CAS/SASS, but I wouldn't carry one for CCW, or even for open carry, because of capacity and reload times.

I got my first Colt SAA this week, and after a thorough cleaning and lube I'll shoot it this coming week. I'd considered a Vaquero but a SAA was always something that was on my "to get" list, just kind of far down. An opportunity presented itself for this one and I realized as I was looking at it that it's classic pieces like this that made me get into shooting.

What about a Colt Cowboy? I've never seen one up close but it has a "Colt" nametag.

Yup, Like em

Don't recommend the colt cowboy though, go check some out, just havn't been real impressed.

The U.S. firearms Rodeo seems to be a very nice gun.

Also like all of the Uberti clones.

I shoot my vaquero the most though

Love them as I love all guns. 1875 Remington is still my fave [ducking veggies and beer bottles].

I love 'em. But I have never had enough money to buy one. Never. I've handled and fired a couple. Owned a couple clones. But a real Colt SAA, NOPE. At least not yet. Maybe some day.

I owned 6 back in the 80's . Married with kids in the 90's . Only 1 left . 2nd Gen .45 43/4" nickel that I bought back around 81 . It was always my favorite and now seems to be the most valuable . It's a keeper !

Tejon: No veggie salad here -- I have two Uberti Remmington '58 replicas with the Taylor's R&D conversion cylinders, and they're beautiful. Look great, handle nicely, and more accurate than my Vaqueros.

The Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt is a hoot. Not as pretty as a SAA, but comfortable to shoot, even with heavy loads. Mine is wickedly accurate, too.

Consider one of the Smith recreations from Uberti? They have a Schofield copy in .45 Colt, and a copy of the Smith #3 Russian, in the exotic caliber of, you guessed it, .44 Russian:D

Since they are break open guns they are a little faster to shoot than a SAA, and that spur trigger guard is way cool.

I tried to edit, but no luck. The only thing I plan to do to this revolver is change the grips. The wood is roughly finished on this example.

THOSE THAT ARE SINGLE ACTION SIXGUNS, and those that wish they were SINGLE ACTION sixguns.
I have far more of them than I'll ever need but not nearly as many as I want to have.
Took delivery yesterday of a custom Ruger SA in 45 S+W from Cosby Custom Guns in Chandler, Indiana. It took 2 years, 4 months, and 26 days for it to be all done and back in my hands. It's beauty is such as to take my breath away. For the SA fans out there it sorta looks like a 5 1/2" NEW FRONTIER now with all steel grip frame, ejector rod housing, bullseye ejector rod, color case hardened frame and hammer, tiger striped walnut stocks with my TM brand in a silver escutcheon, a 2 1/2 lb trigger, and a stunning blue job on the barrel, frame etc. Oh Lordy, be still my heart!!!!!

This is one of my older ones, an 1884 model, that I actually shoot on occasion. Since I shoot almost exclusively black powder cartridges in my Colts, these old models are right up my alley.
