the barest of info on drudge about the FEC looking to set some standards for organized internet presence = campaign contributions and I assume thus falling under campaign finance reform.
Dunno if this would affect places like THR, but it sounds like it could... anyone know anything more about it?

Heard some scuttlebut about this earlier in the year, although twas a little thin. What I heard was it related to solicitations for donations through email/websites.
Be hard to believe it would affect THR, since we still have the 1st to defend the 2nd. (I think)

Better expect it to effect us, if not sooner, then latter. McCain and his merry band of censors regard ANY remaining havens for unregulated political speech as dangerous "loopholes", and even a lot of the members who opposed McCain/Feingold are starting to jump on the campaign censorship bandwaggon.
I'd suggest having a contingency plan for moving THR to offshore servers. I fully expect that to become necessary for any site that hosts political discussions, within a few years.
