6794XX was made in 1956.
The numbers picked up at 672050, and ran to 695399 by the end of the year.
The odd black grips with a thumb rest are the "give-away" to identifying this Police Positive Special.
It's almost certainly a PPS that was sold to the government of Colombia for issue to their National Police.
The Colombian's replaced the Colt factory left grip panel with these after market thumb rest panels.
In the last 15 years or so, Colombia sold these Colt's and large quantities were imported back into the US.
