I was thinking about getting a maxiball mould for my 1 in 48" twist smokepole.
Have any of you ran maxi's through a simular rifle? If so, how did they perform? Maxi weight and powder charge, too? Thanks.

I've run 425 grain Hornady Great Plains Bullets through a 1-48 T/C and gotten good accuracy, 3 shots in 2" off a rest at 50 yards. This was a .54 with the factory iron sights and a charge of 100 grains of Goex 2F black.

I think the diameter and design of the projectile matter quite a bit.
I shoot 320gr .50 Lee REAL maxiballs through my 1x48" Grey Hawk. Once I replaced the crappy TC iron sights, it shot pretty well.
I use 90-100grs of BP or Pyrodex with musket caps

My primary blackpowder hunting rifle is a built-from-kit .50 cal. T.C. Hawkin that I've had for several years. (1 in 48" twist)
I really like the 370gr. T.C. Maxi -Ball.
90grs. FFG, thumb start the ball to the first driving band, short starter, ramrod.
In my rifle this is a very accurate combo and I've killed over a dozen deer with it.
Regards, Zeke
