Gordon, I hate you! You are a classic representative of the most disgusting specimen of firearms owner - the kind that makes me drool all over my keyboard, get up and walk around the room thinking desperately of how to raise money to buy another gun, kick the cats when I can't come up with the funds, and generally give me sleepless nights for the next week! :fire:

Seriously, though - lovely, lovely gun. I hope it gives you much pleasure at the range.

What exactly is the appeal in this weapon? Clearly it is not because of it the way it looks...

You know folks, all of these weapons would look so much better if they were modified to look like Han Solo blasters. How cool would that be? :neener:

Just kidding people. Please don't hurt me. Beautiful weapons all around. Sylvilagus, I like yours the best. Come to think of it, I think I might have a few of those tucked away in a closet somewhere. I'll have to check when I go home. Maybe I can make some fast $$$ by putting them up for sale. :D

Peace out,
Cal

There's a Broomhandle in there somewhere! :D

In the Metal Gear Solid 3 videogame, this character, EVA, carries a Chinese knockoff of the Broomhandle Mauser in .45ACP. I found that interesting.

Well, I can't post any pics, but I have 3.

My first is a 7.62 X 25 with no finish or rifling remaining. It keyholes bullets like crazy.

My second is a Shansei .45 ACP.

My third is a reconditioned, utterly beautiful 9mm.

In my experience, either the Broomhandle appeals to you, or it doesn't. To those for whom it doesn't, we'd never be able to explain it to you!

Sam

P.S. Love all the pics of the guns and of the car!

Yeah I do not know.

A handgun design completed in the first part of the 20th century that fired magnum class handgun rounds reliably and it could be converted to fire full auto and with the stock it could be fired accurately in full auto, because the cyclic rate was controlled.

Send all of those handguns to me I shall dispose of them.:)

Well, I would say part of the appeal is the way it looks -- very "distinctive." But that can be forgiven due to its historical significance. The big thing (due to its C&R status, I believe) is that you can put a stock on it without registering it as an SBR.

Broomhandles?

Started off with a POS $90 Mauser with a sewer-pipe bore and coated in heavy rust. Polished, refinished, new springs, added the Hensoldt scope, machined the bracket and grill...

Four? All four (major) types of Solo blasters:

I have a Mauser with shot-out bore that keyholes with
7.63 Mauser and 7.62 Tokarev. But it does have rifling
left from chamber to muzzle. The standard bullet diameter
of 7.62 Mauser runs .307 to .308 inch. I found that bullets
for the .32 H&R Magnum, .312 inch JHP 90 grain, not only
fit my worn-out bore, but group very nicely without
keyholing handloaded over 5.9 gr Unique or a case-full of
Pyrodex P (I shoot Vintage Military and Black Powder
cartridge matches).

I suspect that a lot of shot-out Mausers could give decent
accuracy with a little careful handloading. The important
thing before shooting a C96 Mauser is to replace the hammer
spring, which absorbs most of the recoil: an old Mauser can
have a hammer spring which will still pop a primer but does
not resist recoil very well. The bolt return spring returns the
bolt, it does not offer much resistence to the recoil. A stiff
hammer spring will keep the bolt from battering the bolt stop.

I'm still waiting for mine, :fire:

For some time now I have been looking for a decent 1921 7.63 that won't bankrupt me.
