Hi,
I've got a S&W 66 2.5" bbl and when I shoot magnums through it the screw that holds the rear adjustable sight down and the screw in the cylinder release come loose. What can I do about this?
Thanks,
Rob

I have been shooting S&W's for over 40 years, and I have never run across that problem! I think I would put a drop of Loctite 242 on each and torque 'em down.

Ditto. Take em out, clean em up good with evaporating solvent, use a drop of blue Loctite, and reinstall. Wait a day to shoot.

Thanks guys. What's loctite, like a glue?

well..kinda sorta.loctite is a bonding material, it comes in many grades. the automotive industry uses it,electronic industry..some grades require a great bit of heat to the parts to break it loose and some grades merely require a good grip and some elbow grease.

loctite comes in a small container similiar to super glue..itll say on the label the bond strength and on the back as well.

I use it on every scope base screw made from steel..the aluminum screws will strip after being loctited down so be careful. I once stripped and ruined a ruger 10/22 receiver because I loctited the scope base screws in the receiver..removed them..and out came the threads as well.so be careful what youre using it on and the strength. blue colored is good to keep screws from vibrating loose, the red stuff is good for something that takes heat and something you plan on leaving on ...some of this red stuff will require a heat source to break it loose...high temp rated.

cut the tip off the nozzle and apply it in a drop to each screw on the threads -after the parts have been cleaned and de greased. let it set to harden for 24 hours then its good to go.

Lock Tight is okay stuff, but the best thing to do with Smith & Wesson rear sights is replace them: http://www.millettsights.com

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the help.
