My brother, a highly-decorated Vietnam vet, reminises about the short Kabar he carried on duty. How common were the short Kabars (5-1/4" blade)compared to the full size 7" blade models? What type of sheath was used? I'd like to present my brother with one for his birthday...stamped USMC, of course! A new one would be fine. :)

Go to www.kabar.com, they have what your looking for, plus a ton of stuff. the shortie were used, as well as the regular, and lots of customs, in the SF . mostly leather sheaths, ths was normally before the time of the plastic junk.

The shorter one was a aircrew survival knife, as I remember we had it in the USA.
