My 1st K-frame - M19-3 w/ 2½" barrel

Bought my first S&W K-frame last night. It's an M19-3 w/ 2½" barrel. It dates to 1975 and has a yellow front ramp insert. Does anybody know if this was a standard option back then?
It's my 2nd six-shooter. The only other revolver I own that holds 6 rounds is my .32 H&R Mag snubby.
Also, I'm thinking of sending for the letter of authenticity from Mr. Jinks just for the heck of it. Once I move to a CCW friendly state, I think this is "the one." It has the smoothest DA action of all my revolvers. Right now, I'm trying a Hogue Monogrip on it, but I'm thinking of trying some Pachmayrs next.
Can anybody tell me the "official" names for the type of trigger, hammer and stocks this gun sports? The trigger is about .400" wide, the hammer is .500" wide (target?), and the stocks from what I understand are wood service grips (Magna?).
Thanks! Sorry, my pics didn't come out as nice as Dhart's. :)

Thanks for sharing Snubby.
I have an early 2.5 inch 19 myself and it shoots wonderful.
I think you'll really enjoy that one.

Welcome to the wonderful world of K frames. They're great guns. A great friend for your 19 would be a K frame in .22.

You may have a reworked revolver.
As far as I know, S&W never used yellow inserts on the Model 66, and I don't recall having seen yellow on ANY standard production revolver.
The hammer is a wide, long Target hammer, which is incorrect for a 2 1/2" standard Model 66.
The trigger is the slightly wider "Combat" trigger which I don't "think" is correct on a mid-70's Combat Magnum.
I notice that your gun appears to have a S&W factory trigger stop installed.
This is the silver stud sticking out of the frame behind the trigger.
I'mn not sure, but I don't think the 2 1/2" Combat Magnum Model 66 came with a trigger stop.
The grips are the standard "Service" type "Magna" grip which is correct.
If I had to guess, this is either a special order, or a standard gun someone modified. Most likely a modified gun.
I have two Model 66's. One a 2 1/2" and one rare late 1980's 3" 66.
I have Pachmayr Professional Compac grips on both.
I like the smaller size of the Compac and the Professional has an open back strap, making for a nice compact grip.
It doesn't get any better than one of these.
It's powerful, accurate, effective, and you can actually shoot them well.

dfariswheel, thanks for the info. I actually sent out a LOA request to Mr. Jinks today. Hopefully he'll shed some light on to the configuration the gun was shipped in, and whether the gun has been modified or is a special order. In any case, I bought this one to be a shooter. Can't wait to get some range time with it.

Snubby... hey, no apology needed or warranted... your pics are just fine! Main thing is that you have pics of a great gun to share with us!
I recently bought a 19-5 and my hammer is considerably narrower than the hammer on your gun. And mine has the red ramp. No trigger stop on my trigger either. In any event, you can change hammer and trigger if you so desire. Cool thing is what a fine revolver the 2.5" 19 is! Enjoy it!
