I just got mine (4 inch) and love it. It does NOT recoil anywhere near as bad as I had anticipated or have read about in a variety of posts. Sharp kick YES, muzzle rise NO. Controllable by anybody that can handle a stout .44 or a .454 in my opinion. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it shot and both the single and double action trigger pulls are smooth as glass,,,VERY NICE!

Anyway, all I have to shoot right now is factory Ultramax 330gr lead flatpoints. Anybody have any experience with this load and a chronograph from a 4 inch brl?

Also has anybody chrono'd the Cor-bon 440gr from a 4 inch? I am really interested in knowing what the real numbers are since I think that will be my carry load. I think this new toy will help me re-establish my position at the TOP of the food chain instead of my current #4 position.

Holsters, other than the extreme $$$ S&W stuff, where are you finding holsters. I am having my cobbler make me a full flap but also would like to hear what others are doing.

Muzzle brake, are you switching the TOP ported one out for the "lead bullet" one when you shoot a few hard casts, any leading issues?

Any other helpful hints or advice would also be appreciated.

thanks for any info, JCS

Smith and Wesson Forum (http://www.smith-wessonforum.com/cgi-bin/sandwcgi/ultimatebb.cgi) Do a search, lots of info over there. Look in particular for posts by a gentleman named John Ross. He has done a ton of work with the 500, both loading and customizing.
