I took a lady friend out shooting for the first time Saturday. It was sunny and cold. We started out with a .22 single shot rifle (Rem. 514) Then I got out the old .410 single shot (Newport). We were shooting at empty plastic bottels at an abondend gravel pit. After the first shot with the .410 when the plastic bottle flew 3 feet in the air She did a happy dance!! The .22 made the bottels wiggle, the .410 made them jump. I wish I had brought more ammo for it.

She also liked my .22 pistol, but wanted to shot something that would move the pop bottels more!! We used up all the .22 amo i brought too!!

She tried out my 12 gauge pump duck gun with 1oz loads. But even with the weight, recoil pad, and heavy cloths she only took about 10 shots. Too much recoil

She wants too go again!!

a great .22 target is old golf balls.

Throw a few on the ground and see how fast your target acquisition is. Kinda hard to do with snow though.

BTW, it was a "brisk" 62° on Saturday here in Las Vegas.

I think it's time to get a 20 gauge. I have a coach gun with exposed hammers and my wife loves it. :)

She needs help with her stance. You'll have to stand closely behind her and coach her if you catch my drift...

Golf balls are too small for a new shooter. I like gallon milk jugs and 20oz pop bottles!

sm it was cold 1 box .410, 3 boxes 12ga, 4 boxes .22 . She went through ammo faster than my grand kids! Came back with 21/2 boxes 12ga.

I told her that I should have put my arms around her to correct her stance. She said " That would distract her and I didn't want to distract a woman wih a loaded gun in her hands"!!

Sorry no video camera, but she did the happy dance with the .410 pointed safely down range.
