Police in Forty Fort PA, last night shot and killed a man who attacked them with a chain saw. He had a history of mental problems. You have to be ready for anything !!

I would think as long as you are not in a horror flick you could out maneuver a guy with a chainsaw :p . My first thought is that they probably didn't have to shoot him, but then again I wasn't there.

Indeed.

They tried not to shoot him , knowing he had mental problems ,but finally had to when one of the officers was slightly injured by the saw.

We just had a guy here in Nebraska kill himself recently with a chainsaw during a standoff with the cops. Lowered his neck onto the running chain.

Having carried two people out of the woods after mishaps with a chainsaw. I would have no problem justifying shooting on site a threatening attacker with a chain saw.
The first was a guy who tripped while limbing a downed tree and the saw flipped back on to him, severed his left arm.
The second was a guy clearing shooting lanes from his tree stand down to the river, some how he slipped and the saw entered between his ear and his neck, ended up near his sternum, they figured the twisting of his hand with the kickback reved the sawup to the redline and it just kept cutting.
so after seeing that I have no problem thinking a saw is more agressive than almost any other hand held weapon

I am with Pete F 100%, having seen the damage a chain saw will do. I gotta say shooting him was NOT out of line. Better him than an officer.

..this is why chainsaws scare me. i don't want to have anything to do with them. axe, or have someone do it for me...
