I don't know how many of you have seen this movie Napoleon Dynamite but I saw it with my 18 yr. old son and 13 yr. old daughter this past weekend. I thought it was kind of funny but the thing I picked up right away was of course the shotgun used in the cow shooting scene. My son said, Dad, only you would know the model of that gun. Here's the question. Anybody else recognize that shotgun? Don't let me be the only one! :eek:

not sure what model it was but I know it was a single shot. Looked like a 12 or 10 gauge. it would be funnier if it were a 10. the gun was probably a cheapo not costing more than $150.

you know, the kind of gun that someone with all sorts of skills would carry. nunchuck skills, bo staff skills, etc. etc.

It's a single shot tip-barrel. My bet would be on the NEF/H&R/Marlin guns. Cheap but they work.

The most hilarious part is the commentary track on that scene. Turns out that very thing actually happened to one of the film makers when he was little.

I'm going to give you a hint. it is obviously a single shot break open but it is not an H&R or an NEF. This might be dating me but it is an older gun, probably what they would have called in the '50s, a hardware store gun. Come on some of you older guys. What is it? Classic single shot.

Come on, somebody has to know what it is. Another hint. Its a well known name brand but still somewhat obscure. The company is not known by this name anymore. This gun had to be owned by someone in the cast or crew because it was not bought new for the movie. Its too old. Or maybe they found it in a pawn shop.

Ding Ding Ding!!!! Adaman wins the prize. A hearty handshake and the warm glow of victory. The gun is a Stevens Model 94. I thought it looked awfully familiar and I probably wouldn't have known it either except I've got one too. That groove on the top of the reciever that is used for a rear sight was my first clue but when he was fumbling with the hammer and had to wrap his thumb around it to get it cocked was the givaway for me. That sucker is a pain and is horrible if you are using it for hunting. Thanks for the fun guys. I'm glad I wasn't the only one! ;)

I was going to say a Steven 94 because that was the very first gun I ever shot. It kicked like a mule and I didn't want to shoot after that because it hurt. Mine was a Stevens 94c whatever that means. I was 11 and my dad let me shoot it. I didn't shoot a cow in the head with it, just a tree.

I used it for hunting pheasent but I miss too many because of that supid hammer! :rolleyes: When I saw that old guy trying to cock the hammer, I knew just how he felt! :D

Great movie! It has no point but it makes you laugh. People from Idaho really are like that, I knew a kid from there when I was growing up and he could have been in that movie. :evil:
