Man, this photography bit is rough. I think I have a coupla decent lights now maybe and I'll try again with the digital camera instead of the digital camcorder. Anyway I got a 10mm Colt Delta Elite First Edition and tried the picture takin thing, then I tried the uploading thing. If the uploading thing worked you will be able to see that the picture takin thing, well, didn't =)

the finish actually looks great. I guess the pics would if I knew how to take em.

Nossir, just got it today. I stripped and cleaned it. Stopped by Wal Mart to get ammo for this weekend and they had everything I needed but 10mm so I guess I'll hit CTD (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ctd/default.asp) tomorrow. More selection there anyway.

I don't think those are the Factory grips as I believe all Factory Delta's came with the Delta emblem in each grip, but I could be wrong.
Nice Delta though. If it has the factory dual recoil springs and guide rod with the sandwiched rubber buffer on the end your first order of business should be to replace the springs with a Wolff 23# or 24# ($8) single spring and a full length stainless steel guide rod ($25). Go with a 24# spring if your intend to shoot full power 10mm loads otherwise a 23# spring is sufficient. The problem is the factory installed guide rod in the Delta's have a history of coming apart at the sandwiched end in less than 500 rounds with full load 10mm and somewhere around 1000 rounds with the regular medium power 10mm loads. You should not use the factory double spring setup with a full length guide rod. If it has been fired much my guess is someone has already made this change. One thing for sure you don't want that guide rod coming apart!

The rear sight appears to be a Millet. The front sight also appears to be aftermarket. The grips are aftermarket. Did it come with the "First Edition" presentation case? My local dealer has a stainless NIB "First Edition" that I have been keeping an eye on for the last few years.

Front and rear sights appear to be Millet fully adjustables, definitely not original nor are the stocks. Go to this site to see how to set up a 1911 for a long life as a 10mm platform.

Very nice! Looking for a 10mm Delta Elite in SS myself. Enjoy!

I would not go to a lighter (20#) recoil spring for Full House 10mm loads, as this writer suggests, without increasing the hammer spring to around 25#.

What he suggests would be like shooting .45acp +P loads in a Colt .45acp Gold Cup with the 12# target load recoil spring in place.

Yes, it will work but is is hard on the gun! :(

Just my .02C!

Thanks ya'll.

I figger I'll go with a 22# spring and shock buffs. I am replacing the stock guide rod with a one piece full length. The rod I can find but haven't been able to lay my hands on a 22# spring yet. I'm hoping I can get one at the gunshow tomorrow. If not I guess I'll order from wolff.

The trigger on the thing is like ten pounds too. Doesn't feel bad really, just waaay heavy, specially for a target pistol. I'll get on that next week I guess. I'm kinda hoping I can work with what's there but if not I'll probably order STI trigger, hammer, and sear.

I found some 10mm Kimber mags at CTD yesterday that work fine but they are welded bottom GI looking things but with that DE follower. OK until I can get some Colts or metalforms I guess (wish Wilson made 10mm mags).

Look around at gunshows and gunshops for used Wilson 10mm mags! They did market 10mm mags in the mid 1990's, but dropped them when the 10mm market went into a decline. I have 3 that I purchased directly from them back then. They offered 9 round (small round hole under lower vertical slot) & 8 round versions (no hole under lower vertical slot). Both versions are stainless steel. ;)

Sweet. Thanks Gary. Ill hit a show tomorrow and see if I cant get some.

The Kimber mag I bought was only 30 bucks so I'll chunk it if it gives me any problems.
