If it doesn't stop raining I am going to try and make hogs extinct. :D Well a buddy and I took 3 female strike dogs out today and made a run at the same place I went yesterday. We ended up busting a nice boar hog. We'd run him once before and he just blew the dogs out of the water and left em behind. Today he had the wrong pups on his butt and they ate him all up and got him stopped. A 2' slug shot into his neck and lodging in his front shoulder put him down for keeps.

Nice boar!!!
I've heard of 2 3/4" & 3" slugs. Even 3 1/2" slugs, but a 2' slug?
Must kick a bit.
Or was it 2' away?

2' from the end of the muzzle, left a nice powder ring. :D
He dressed 158lbs, I just took him down off the scale a couple minutes ago.
Here is a pic of him hanging...

Ahhh - 2 feet from muzzle ... gotcha! :p
I was a tad generous with my weight estimate! That first pic made it look pretty large! Nice job.

What the heck do you do with all that pig meat? I mean, I like pork, but not an an entire pig every day.

NRA,
We normally try to donate most of the meat, a local meat market processes and donates to a few childrens homes. But they can only take so much, last week the market said no more for awhile. I try to keep hundred or so pounds of meat in the freezer all the time. I've given it away to everyone I know who would take it. I was flat out of room, but the hogs are so destructive we have to keep killing to try and at least keep them in check a bit or more likely moved away from the area we are in. So if I can't find a home for the meat, I simply pull the loins out of the hog with a big square cut in the hide and I can always find a home for them. I hate doing it, but its about the only option to not wasting the whole animal.
I just got off the phone with a guy who says he can take a few for some homeless shelters in San Antonio, so that is probably where the next batch will go. Most of the time we can get rid of them to needy families around the area, we gut em and they cut them up. But this year they are so thick on account of the good range conditions we have overwhelmed everyone who normally takes them.
Sometimes its harder hunting up homes for the meat than it is the pigs themselves...

And when we have too much, we also donate to the local food pantry. You have to pay for the burchering, but better than letting ot go to waste...
