Are rifle, pistol, and shotgun barrels generally made from the same grade of steel?

The most common barrel steels are 4140 [chrome -moly] and 416 stainless steel.Generally , yes the rifle ,shotgun and handgun barrels are the same.

I had heard that the original CZ-75 was made from a much harder grade of steel.
Is this true? Also, what benefits would this have?
