I'm trying to source an original hammer for my 19-4. The one the gun came with is bobbed, and nice, but I do like to shoot SA now and then. I don't think that a brandy-new MIM one would do any justice to my little buddy, I can tell it wants an original. Do any of you guys have a spare hammer form a M19 that I could buy, or know where I could source one?

Thanks muchly,

-James

If I can find the 2nd elusive box o'parts this weekend I should still have a couple of K-frame hammers.

This past week I found the box o' automatic parts but the box o' revolver parts is still hiding.

Lady45 and P14Enfield packed away the Sharpies BEFORE they packed the rest of the boxes.

Try Numrich/The Parts Corporation at: www.e-gunparts.com

The Model 19 used the same hammer(s) from the original Combat Magnum (pre 19) to the introduction of MIM hammers in the 19-8.

Two hammer styles were commonly used. Both had wide spurs, but the first width (.375") was standard, while the "target hammer" (.500) was available as an option, and sometimes used as original equipment. Either would work in your gun. These same hammers were also used in the model 15. So .. if no one has a model 19 hammer ask what they have for the K-38 Combat Masterpiece/model 15.

Numrich has had a fair number of surplus police revolvers that were turned in on condition that they could strip them for parts, but the frames would have to be destroyed. Therefore I suspect that theses parts are available, and they may still have some factory new hammers.

It is also possible that S&W might replace the bobbed hammer for a new one, if the gun was returned to them. I'd check and see.

Edited to add: The new MIM hammers won't work. They are designed to be used in guns where the firing pin is mounted in the frame, not on the hammer nose.
